Mission Work

First Christian Church Berryville supports mission activities here in the United States and worldwide through our collective prayers during crisis such as the recent earthquakes in Haiti and Japan, and with financial contributions to aid Disciples of Christ missionaries in places like South and Central America, the Mideast, and Africa.

Some of First Christian Church of Berryville’s financial contributions is for Disciples’ Special Day Offerings:

The Pentecost Offering supports new church development. Planning, nurturing and sustaining new congregations is part of the Disciples’ vision. This offering supports the specialized ministry of new church development through both regional and general programs – with gifts divided between each. Fifty percent of gifts received by a region remain in that region while the balance supports the work of developing new churches.

Our Christmas Offering supports Regional Ministries in 33 areas across the U.S. and Canada. This offering is critically helpful to congregations as they support efforts to attract and support a new minister.

Week of Compassion:
Week of Compassion is the relief, refugee and development mission fund of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ in the United States and Canada. We seek to equip and empower disciples to alleviate the suffering of others through disaster response, humanitarian aid, sustainable development and the promotion of mission opportunities
